Daniel Maxwell

Daniel Maxwell is an attorney and settlement planner with Amicus Settlement Planners, where he helps plaintiffs and attorneys navigate the complex legal, tax, and government benefits issues that arise at settlement. 

He holds a B.S. in Business Management from the Marriott Business School at Brigham Young University (magna cum laude) and earned his J.D. from Creighton University School of Law (summa cum laude). Prior to law school, he gained valuable experience as a financial analyst and financial planner—experience that directly shapes his settlement planning approach.

At Amicus, Daniel focuses on settlement tax planning and government benefits planning — helping clients maximize their after-tax recovery and preserve eligibility for needs-based benefits after receiving a legal settlement.

Daniel works with plaintiff attorneys nationwide to reduce their tax burdens by deploying tax-planning strategies unique to contingency-fee-based practices.

Daniel lives in Utah with his wife and their five children. Outside of work, he enjoys playing tennis, spending time with his family, watching college sports, and listening to podcasts.
